Largest wind farm in Mongolia with 55 MW
In September 2017, the Sainshand onshore wind farm reached financial close for USD 120 million. With a feed-in capacity of 55 MW, which covers the electricity consumption of more than 100,000 households, it is the largest wind farm in Mongolia. With a savings potential of more than 200,000 tons of CO2, the Sainshand wind farm makes a significant contribution to decarbonizing Mongolia's energy industry, which is dominated by coal energy.
FERROSTAAL acted as owner's engineer and took on the equity and debt structuring. Construction of the wind farm began in August 2017 and was completed well ahead of schedule in the third quarter of 2018.
