History

Ferrostaal is renowned internationality and extensive know-how

Ferrostaal, originating from the Dutch company Ferrostaal N.V. and the German company Gutehoffnungshütte Aktienverein für Bergbau und Hüttenbetrieb (GHH), has developed into an industrial service provider with an international distribution network.

2015

Start project “EPC of the support systems to the construction of the underground mine Chuquicamata Codelco Norte Division”

1920

Foundation of Ferrostaal N.V. in The Hague as a commercial trading company for steel products.

1921

Participation of Gutehoffnungshütte in Ferrostaal N.V. and expansion of trade business.

1926

Gutehoffnungshütte acquires shares in Ferrostaal N.V. and builds the latter into its commercial trading company.

1930

Entry into the Essen Register of Companies as "Ferrostaal AG".

From 1934

Expansion of the sales organization to cover Romania, Columbia, China, Hong Kong, Italy, Iran, Estonia, Bulgaria, Bolivia, Peru, Chile, Argentina.

1936

First compensation contract: In exchange against sheep wool and other goods Ferrostaal supplied railway material, rails and railway cars for the Iranian government.

1943

Destruction of the Essen administration building as a result of an air raid.

1945

Resumption of operating activities in temporary offices. The “Waldschänke” shown here and located in Essen-Bredeney served as temporary accommodation.

1949

Reconstruction of the administrative building at Huyssenallee, Essen.

1950-1960

Expansion of the business relationships to cover Latin America, Africa, Asia and Eastern Europe.

1953

Delivery of rail busses to South America.

1963

First large-scale projects in plant construction: Steel works and copper refinery in Chile; cement factory in Nigeria.

1973

Ferrostaal intensifies business expansion into Eastern Europe.

1980

50-year anniversary of the Ferrostaal AG in Essen.

1987

First large scale projects for the petrochemical industry in Venezuela and Chile.

1990

Takeover of Fritz Werner GmbH, Geisenheim.

1991

First petrochemical plants in Trinidad and Tobago.

1996

Building up services for the automotive industry.

2004

Name of Ferrostaal AG changed to MAN Ferrostaal AG.

2005

Commissioning the world's largest methanol plant in Trinidad and Tobago.

2006

Sale of Takraf Fördertechnik.

2006

MAN Ferrostaal realigns steel business.

2006

MAN Ferrostaal develops itself to sales and distribution platform of the MAN Group.
