Modernisation of plant stabilises power supply
Ferrostaal has signed an EPC contract to expand a gas-fired power plant in Tarakan, Indonesia. The customer is the Indonesian company P.T. Cahaya Sakti. The contract was signed in late June. The new power plant with an output of 25 MW is scheduled to begin supplying electricity in 2014 in order to help stabilise the regional power supply.
“We are expanding the plant together with our local company in Indonesia,” reports Kay Hanns Ewaldsen from the Executive Board of Ferrostaal GmbH. “Our services will be in the areas of project management, engineering and delivery of the new turbine, as well as in construction and commissioning of the plant.”
The turbine will be installed on the existing site and will operate independently of the existing plant. The plant will be supplied with gas using the existing pipeline infrastructure. The new turbine will be responsible for the main operations at the plant and will guarantee that electricity is constantly available.
