Joint Venture in Mongolia / Paving the Way for Initial Industrial Projects

Essen, 29 March 2012 - With the establishment of a joint venture, Ferrostaal Mongolia Ltd. with headquarters in the Mongolian capital city of Ulan Bator, Ferrostaal is expanding its presence in Central Asia. Joined by its partner, Euro Khan Co. Ltd., the industrial service provider will assist the country, rich in raw materials, as it expands its energy and infrastructure sector. The effort will make a sustained contribution to economic growth in Mongolia. 

Today, to kick off the project, during a visit to Germany by Mongolian president , Tsakhia Elbegdorj, Ferrostaal Mongolia concluded a basic agreement with the Mongolian Ministry of Roads, Transportation, Construction and Urban Development with regard to the construction of a water pipeline to supply the populace in the southern part of the country. A conceptual study for the construction of a refinery is already in progress as well.

Ferrostaal holds a 70-percent share in the joint venture through a subsidiary, Ferrostaal Industrieanlagen GmbH. As a plant-construction company, Ferrostaal has decades' worth of experience and EPC (engineering, procurement, construction) expertise for the construction of industrial facilities. These include plants in the oil & gas, petrochemicals and energy sectors, along with engineering facilities. As a Mongolian company, its partner in the joint venture, Euro Khan Co. Ltd. (30%) offers local market and legal expertise along with engineering competence.

Depending on the requirements involved, Ferrostaal Mongolia will provide all of the services for industrial projects, from project development and financing to EPC management and turnkey handover, along with the subsequent operation and maintenance of the plant. In addition to EPC services, Ferrostaal Mongolia also offers equipment for pipelines and for the oil and gas industry. 'We expect strong demand for our services and we are well positioned for it', joint venture managing director Michael Napel explains. Ferrostaal Mongolia is presenting the company's spectrum of services from 16-19 May 2012 at the 'Future Mongolia' trade fair in Ulan Bator.
