At the Tube trade fair in Düsseldorf (26-30 March 2012), Ferrostaal Piping Supply is presenting a process that offers completely new capabilities for high-quality corrosion and wear protection.  The material, applied in plated form using a laser cladding process, can combine protection against wear and corrosion for pipes, semi-finished products and pre-fabricated components in a single layer. There are additional benefits over conventional methods: the cladding can be applied from the inside out, is only 0.7 to 1 mm thick and takes considerably less time to apply. The new process opens up a wide variety of applications in plant construction, in deep-sea drilling by the natural-gas and petroleum industry and wherever materials are exposed to very high temperatures or extraordinary pressures, such as in blast furnaces. For instance, the laser cladding method can be used in deep-sea drilling to plate drill heads, drill pipes and hydraulic pistons, or in blasting furnaces to protect piping, fittings or cooling ppes from excessive wear.

The expansion of the product portfolio at Ferrostaal Piping Supply also includes pipes made of fine-grain structural steel for use in steel construction in the STE 460, STE 690, STE 770 and STE 890 classes. In conjunction with the manufacturer Tenaris Dalmine, Ferrostaal Piping Supply offers exclusive piping designed for special conditions with axial loading, tension and compression stress and bending loads.

In addition to these products, Ferrostaal Piping Supply is also offering new services for customers in the areas of piping construction, plant construction and power plants. These services include pre-fabrication and assembly of piping components, the design of pipes and fittings and construction-site co-ordination and support.
