Quality in record time: a methanol plant in Trinidad
Setting a new record, Ferrostaal handed over the methanol plant ready for commissioning after the construction period of only 22 months to the customer Trinidad and Tobago Methanol Company (TTMC). To guarantee the financing of this project, Ferrostaal together with the Trinidadian government became shareholder in TTMC.
As the general contractor, Ferrostaal was responsible for the coordination of the entire project. The engineering could be realized on the basis of the previous CMC design by adapting the complex to a higher production capacity. Procurement and Construction have been prepared thoroughly, so that a “fast track schedule” enabled a parallel implementation of all disciplines. Due to efficient and high-quality local performance, the methanol complex could start production eight months earlier than envisaged. Since February 1996, TTMC II produces 1,650 tonnes of methanol per day.
